BOXPARK™ Shoreditch

For a unique shopping experience BOXPARK™ will be the place where you can find selected big name brands like Nike, 55DSL, Puma, Lacoste L!ve, The North Face and smaller independent brands such as Abuze and Playful Promises.
BOXPARK™ is not some run-of-the-mall shopping centre. It’s a living, fertile community of brands packed with talent, innovation and attitude that puts creativity and fashion back where they belong: on the street. No high street retailers here – just select brands by invitation only to create a revolutionary mix. BOXPARK™ isn’t just where you shop; it’s what a real brand experience should be all about.
BOXPARK™ strips and refits shipping containers to create unique, low cost, low risk ‘Box Shops’. Put them together with a unique mix of International and UK fashion talent and lifestyle brands, galleries and cafés and you’ve got the world’s first ‘pop-up’ mall – so named because its basic building blocks are inherently moveable. They can, and will, literally pop up anywhere in the world!
Home to more than sixty carefully chosen fashion brands and food and drink retailers, BOXPARK™ is a fresh retail revolution from Roger Wade, creator of Boxfresh and fashion brand consultancy Brands Incorporated, in partnership with real estate developers Hammerson and Ballymore Group.
“I was always fascinated by shipping containers – the idea of BOXPARK™ was a fusion of many personal ideas over time. I wanted to create something on a grand scale by using shipping containers and offer retailers short leases, versatility and costeffective retailing that made sense – the antithesis of the out of town shopping mall. And at the same time a place where the kids could just hang out and have fun…” says Roger Wade.
It’s no accident that Shoreditch will be home to the very first BOXPARK™. It’s right where it should be: directly opposite Shoreditch House and the new Shoreditch High Street station – and within walking distance of Brick Lane, Spitalfields, Hoxton and Old Street. It just had to be in London – the true global capital of street style; a city of taking radicalism to its heart and home of iD Magazine, of Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen. And within London, where better than Shoreditch – the capital’s creative heart and a breeding ground for ideas where the outsiders, the renegades and the radicals are making stuff interesting by making interesting stuff!
Boxpark is located at The Goodsyard, a 4.7 hectares site and former railway goodsyard, which has been unused for over 40 years and lies between the neighbourhoods of Shoreditch, Spitalfields, and to the North of the City of London. The site will be developed in partnership between Hammerson and Ballymore Group and the regeneration has the potential to deliver up to 2000 new homes, office space for both large organisations and start up enterprises, retail and leisure facilities and up to 1.7 hectares of new public open space.
BOXPARK™ SHOREDITCH will initially open for up to 5 years.
Grapefruit Graphics were responsible for branding BOXPARK™ containers, shop fronts, wayfinding signage & site plans.
